Volunteer Work
Like in any other job, a qualified translator deserves to be paid in line with his skills. However, he remains free to give some of his time to causes he fully supports.
I am involved with different associations, starting with the World Wildlife Fund, which promotes the environment and the respect of our planet. The WWF published a guide to responsible paper purchasing. Here are the original English version and my French translation.
English: The WWF Guide to Buying paper
French: Pour un achat responsable du papier - Le guide WWF
I also occasionally contribute to the European webzine Café Babel, a project I really care about since it is the very first European social news website. It is mainly thanks to Café Babel that I have earned my first stripes. My profile lists the articles I have translated for the site.
I am discovering the joys of literary translation by working for the French biannual SF magazine Fiction. My first translation is a short novel by Joe Haldeman, Foreclosure, published in the volume 11 (Septembre 2010). Other translations are to come soon.
